Purpose: These Guidelines describe the manner in which Committees shall be formed or dissolved, the manner in which the membership of Committees shall be determined, and the manner in which the business, efforts or work of Committees shall be determined and conducted. It shall be the duty of the Mayor and Town Council to create and to dissolve Committees. The Mayor and Town Council shall also establish each Committee’s role, its specific membership and its leadership. Committees exist for the sole purpose of fulfilling the role and direction authorized by the Mayor and Town Council. BICYCLE GUIDELINES

BICYCLE GUIDELINES  ALL BICYCLISTS MUST PARK THEIR BIKES WITHIN A BIKE RACK ORDINANCE 202-21 regulates that bikes parked in the public right-of-way (ROW) shall be parked in bike racks only. Bikes parked outside of racks in the Town’s ROW, are subject to removal by the South Bethany Police.  Bikes secured to a street sign, light post, utility pole, fence or other support, by use of a bike chain or lock device, are subject to removal by the South Bethany Police.  Property owners who find bikes parked on their property without permission, may contact the South Bethany Police.  Bikes removed by the Police will be secured at the Police department located at 402 Evergreen Road. COASTAL STORM IMPACT – MAY 2022

The impact from the coastal storm that occurred over the weekend caused substantial damage to the beach in South Bethany. The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) assessed the beach and determined that South Bethany has the most severe dune erosion and debris area of the coastal communities. All sand walkways were severely compromised, and the ADA ramp was destroyed and will not be replaced in time for the 2022 season.   It is important to emphasize that DNREC’s Shoreline and Waterway Management Section maintains and improves Delaware’s shoreline and waterways, not the individual towns. The Shoreline and Waterway Management Section manages the shoreline through regulation of coastal construction activities and implementation of dune and beach management practices. NOTICE TOWN OF SOUTH BETHANY 2022 ELECTION CANCELLED The Town of South Bethany Election, which would have been scheduled for May 14, 2022, has been cancelled.  There were three (3) seats open for Council Members for two (2)-year terms and one (1) seat for Mayor for a two (2)-year term.  The seat for Mayor and three (3) seats for Council members were filled by unopposed candidates. All were qualified by the Board of Elections. Due to there being no additional candidates running other than the four listed below to fill the four open seats, there will be no election.
