Date Posted: Thursday, January 9th, 2025The Town of South Bethany is accepting proposals from bidders to provide exercise classes on the beach for the 2025 summer season. Times and dates to be determined by the Town of South Bethany. Up to three (3) concessions may be awarded, at Council’s discretion. Concession fees will be established by competitive bidding, with the minimum bid starting at $250.00 for the season. NOW HIRING: PUBLIC WORKS STORMWATER/GENERAL MAINTENANCE POSITION
Date Posted: Thursday, January 9th, 2025The Town of South Bethany, Delaware is in search of a full-time Public Works employee. The successful candidate will perform tasks primarily related to maintaining and inspecting the Town’s stormwater infrastructure as well as tasks and projects related to the general maintenance of the beach and Town. Experience with stormwater infrastructure and municipal maintenance. Must be able to perform physical labor and heavy lifting of at least 50 pounds. This position may require working in extreme weather conditions, working some weekends (particularly Memorial Day through Labor Day), as well as working evenings and weekends for emergencies. Municipal experience preferred, experience with stormwater required. 40-hour work week, salary DOQ, plus excellent Town benefit package. Full job description can be found at here. South Bethany Community Food Drive Accepting Donations Dec. 2, 2024 – Dec. 7, 2024
Date Posted: Monday, December 2nd, 2024The South Bethany Community Relations Committee (CRC) will be accepting donations from Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, through Saturday, December 7, 2024, of non-perishable food in jars, cans, and sealed packets to go to the Cape Henlopen Food Basket. We recommend sauces, soups, cereal, granola bars, snack packs, peanut butter, boxed juices, long-life milk, condiments, dish and/or laundry detergent, and aluminum foil. For a full list of donation suggestions, please click here. Drop-off for the items will be only at the South Bethany Town Hall lobby (Monday, Dec. 2-Friday, Dec. 6, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.); or you may bring them to the Holiday Tree Lighting, outside of the South Bethany Town Hall, on Saturday, Dec. 7 (the last day of accepting donations) at 5 p.m.

University of Delaware & Delaware Sea Grant Coastal Economy Report
Date Posted: Friday, November 15th, 2024Seaside to Statewide: UD study explores economic impact of DE coast Delaware’s coastal economy is a crucial pillar of the state’s prosperity as detailed in a new report, “Seaside to Statewide: The Economic Contributions of Delaware’s Coastal Region,” published by the University of Delaware and Delaware Sea Grant with funding from Delaware’s Association of Coastal Towns. A follow-up to a 2012 study, this report reveals that Delaware’s coastal economy grew five times faster than the rest of the state’s economy between 2011-2022. It highlights the immense value the coastal economy brings to the rest of the state in terms of jobs, output and revenue. As of 2022, Delaware’s coastal industries employed 74,030 people, distributed $4.1 billion in employee income, and generated $14.2 billion total in revenues within the “Infrastructure zone” bordering the Atlantic coast, the Inland Bays and lower Delaware Bay.
