Proposed Offshore Wind Project

As many of you are aware there is an offshore Wind Project currently being proposed 13+ miles off the Delaware coast which has a landing of transmission lines at Fenwick Island State Park. The wind farm developer, Ørsted, is providing $18 million to the State of Delaware to redevelop Fenwick Island State Park with new facilities, including a two-story parking garage. The State Park will remain near its current location. The Wind Farm, a project being proposed by the State of Maryland, will be located in Federal waters. The State of Delaware has full control over the Fenwick Island State Park Project and South Bethany has no jurisdiction over the decisions regarding the projects for either the Wind Farm or State Park. BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT VACANCY There is a vacancy on the Board of Adjustment due to the resignation of a member. The term is set to expire in August 2022. If you are interested and meet the requirement below, please submit a brief resume to the Town Manager, Maureen Hartman, by December 15, 2019.  Any questions, you may contact the Town Manager at 302-539-3653 or email at townmanager@southbethany.org.   Requirements: The Board consists of five members who are full-time residents or own property and reside in Town at least 30 days, consecutively or non-consecutively, each year. Board members should be knowledgeable of the problems of urban and rural development and become familiarized with Town Code, specifically Chapter 145, Zoning. All new members are required to attend a class through the University of Delaware regarding procedures, standards and composition of the Board of Adjustment, paid by the Town of South Bethany.
