BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT VACANCY There is a vacancy on the Board of Adjustment due to the resignation of a member. The term is set to expire in August 2022. If you are interested and meet the requirement below, please submit a brief resume to the Town Manager, Maureen Hartman, by December 15, 2019.  Any questions, you may contact the Town Manager at 302-539-3653 or email at townmanager@southbethany.org.   Requirements: The Board consists of five members who are full-time residents or own property and reside in Town at least 30 days, consecutively or non-consecutively, each year. Board members should be knowledgeable of the problems of urban and rural development and become familiarized with Town Code, specifically Chapter 145, Zoning. All new members are required to attend a class through the University of Delaware regarding procedures, standards and composition of the Board of Adjustment, paid by the Town of South Bethany.

Coastal Towns Historic Village 3rd Annual Cottage Tour In South Bethany Saturday, October 12, 2019

On Saturday, October 12, 2019, Historic Coastal Towns will offer you a glimpse of earlier times in South Bethany by touring six historic cottages and the town’s Richard Hall Memorial Walkway of historic markers. Present owners are graciously opening their history-filled rooms to the public between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Limited tickets must be purchased in advance at Ellen Rice Gallery, Rt. 26, Ocean View, at Made By Hand, South Bethany, at Sea Needles, Rt. 26, Bethany Beach, or on line at www.thequietresorts.com. Tickets are $25, and proceeds support the creation of a new Coastal Towns Museum at 40 West Ave. in Ocean View.

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), Division of Watershed Stewardship (DWS), is developing a methodology for prioritizing dredging projects in the Inland Bays. With increased demands on resources and decreased federal funding available, DNREC is working toward cultivating a data-based approach to ensure that Delaware’s navigational channels are kept open and safe.
