Planning Commission – Two Vacancies

PLANNING COMMISSION TWO VACANCIES There are two (2) vacancies in the Planning Commission. In the interest of encouraging more citizen participation in town affairs, we are publicizing the vacancies as widely as possible to town residents. Terms are for two (2) years and the Planning Commission meets bi-monthly or six (6) meetings a year. Members may also be asked to participate in studies and report on their findings. There is also occasional hearing on land use issues; lot partitioning or lot separation. A major responsibility of the Planning Commission is to prepare the town’s ten-year Comprehensive Plan for approval by the Town Council and ultimately by the Governor. The last ten-year Comprehensive Plan was approved in 2016. The Commission also periodically, with the cooperation of the Town Manager, provides information on the status of the goals in the plan to the Town Council. Welcome Chief Jason Lovins

The Town of South Bethany welcomes Jason Lovins as he begins his new position as Chief of Police for the South Bethany Police Department. Jason retired from the Kentucky State Police in 2014 with the permanent rank of Detective Sergeant. He also served as an interim Lieutenant and assistant Commander for 12 months. He was selected, and served, on KSP’s full-time Special Response Team for six years. Most recently, Jason was an Officer with the Dewey Beach Police Department from 2016 until accepting the Chief’s position with South Bethany. Jason is a veteran of the United States Navy and was an Aviation Rescue Swimmer, Petty Officer 3rd Class. A welcome reception will be held on Friday, June 14, at 5:00 p.m. prior to the 6:00 p.m. Town Council Meeting. All are welcome to stop by to meet Chief Lovins.
