Town Planning Commission Vacancy

There is a need for one (1) volunteer to serve on the Planning Commission. In the interest of encouraging more citizen participation in town affairs, we are publicizing this vacancy as widely as possible to town property owners. Depending on Council’s decision, the position will be a two (2)-year term, and the Planning Committee meets as needed. Members may also be asked to participate in studies and report on their findings.

Interested candidates should submit a Committee Participation Form to the Town by no later than 12 p.m. noon on Friday, June 21, 2024, so Council may appoint an applicant at its June workshop meeting.

Town Council Vacancy, Submit by 12 noon, June 20

The Town of South Bethany Town Council has one vacant seat open to finish the current term, expiring in May 2025. According to the Town Charter, this vacancy will be filled by appointment of the Town Council.  

The Town is accepting letters of interest for the open position. Letters must be received by 12 p.m. noon on Thursday, June 20, 2024. If you feel you could make a positive contribution to the Town by becoming a council member, please submit a letter or email with information about yourself and your vision or goals for the future of South Bethany. A letter of interest is not a guarantee of appointment.

PLEASE NOTE: An Appointee must meet all qualifications that would apply to a candidate for election. The Town Charter requires that a candidate meet the following requirements:

(a) Attained twenty-one (21) years of age

(b) A citizen of the United States

(c) Registered under the Town’s voter registration ordinance (if one is in effect)

(d) Has not been convicted of a felony or a crime of moral turpitude

(e) Shall have been a qualified voter of the Town for at least one (1) year prior to the date of election
