Town of South Bethany Board of Adjustment Vacancy
Date Posted: Wednesday, September 2nd, 2026The Town of South Bethany has a vacancy on the Board of Adjustment, and the term will expire in August 2027. The Board of Adjustment, in its activities and decisions, is governed by Title 22, Chapter 3, of the Delaware Code, and Article XV of Chapter 145 of the Town Code. Requirements include: 1) Board members must be full-time residents of South Bethany or own property and reside in Town for at least 30 days each year, consecutively or non-consecutively; 2) In-person attendance at meetings is mandatory; 3) Members should have knowledge of the issues associated with urban and rural development and become familiar with the Town Code, particularly Chapter 145, Zoning; and 4) All new members are required to attend a University of Delaware training class covering the procedures, standards, and composition of a Board of Adjustment. Town of South Bethany Planning Commission Vacancy
Date Posted: Wednesday, September 2nd, 2026The Town is seeking one volunteer to serve on the Planning Commission to complete a two-year term, which expires in May 2028. The Planning Commission is currently working with the Town’s planning consultant on the development of a new 10-year Comprehensive Plan. Work on the plan began in May 2026 and is expected to be completed in spring 2027. During this time, the Commission will hold several meetings, and in-person attendance to all meetings is mandatory. In addition to its role in developing the Comprehensive Plan, the Planning Commission is responsible for reviewing and approving subdivisions, lot consolidations, and other land-use matters. York Road Flood Mitigation Project Update
Date Posted: Friday, April 10th, 2026Construction for the flood mitigation project on York Road is planned for the week of April 13, 2026, to April 17, 2026, weather permitting. The road raising/resurfacing project is expected to last less than one week. York Road will remain open for the duration of the project, though traffic flow will be reduced to one lane and flaggers will be onsite to direct traffic.

South Bethany Waste Service Transition to Casella (Effective May 1, 2026)
Date Posted: Wednesday, April 8th, 2026The Town will transition from Republic Services to Casella as its waste services provider effective May 1, 2026. Please review the important dates and service updates below. Transition Timeline Friday, April 24 – Last recycling pickup by Republic Services. Recycling containers will be removed this day. Please place containers curbside and leave them there until picked up by Republic. Monday, April 27 – Last trash pickup by Republic Services. Removal of containers from the town-owned trash bins on Ocean Drive and Sandpiper Village. Weeks of April 20 and April 27 – Casella will deliver new recycling containers. Do not use these containers for Republic’s April 24 pickup. Casella will deliver new containers for town-owned trash bins on Ocean Drive and Sandpiper Village.
