TOWN OF SOUTH BETHANY
Town Hall, 402 Evergreen Road, South Bethany, Delaware
Saturday, May 25, 2019
9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

There are three (3) seats open for council members (two-year term).
The candidates for the two-year term council members are:
Jane Bonbright, Laurence Budd, Darren Donohue, Richard Oliver, Carol Stevenson, and Frank Weisgerber.

There is one (1) seat open for council member (one-year term).
The candidates for the one-year term council member are:
Derek Abbott and Gerald Masiello.

VOTER ELIGIBILITY
Pursuant to §C-6A (1) of the Town Charter

(1) Any natural person shall be qualified to vote in any annual municipal election, special election or referendum who, on voting day, shall:
(a) Have attained eighteen (18) years of age;
(b) Be a citizen of the United States;
(c) Be registered under the town’s voter registration ordinance (if one is in effect); and
(d) Have been one of the following:
[1] A freeholder in the town, as defined herein, for a period of ninety (90) consecutive days immediately preceding the date of the election. A “freeholder” shall be deemed to include any natural person who holds title of record either in his/her own name or as trustee to a fee simple estate or a life estate in and to real property located within the corporate limits of the town.
[2] The spouse of a freeholder whether their name is on the deed or not.
[3] A resident of the town. A “resident” shall mean any natural person who has been physically residing within the corporate limits of the town for at least nine (9) months*, consecutively or non-consecutively, of the twelve-month period immediately preceding the date of the election and who is physically residing within the town on the date of the election.
[4] Provided, however, anything herein to the contrary notwithstanding, not more than eight (8) persons per property shall be entitled to vote either as a “freeholder” or as the spouse of a “freeholder” under subsection A(1)(d)[1] and [2] immediately preceding.

*NOTE: Pursuant to 15 Del. C. §7554(a), for purposes of voter eligibility, the residency requirement shall be 30 days immediately preceding the date of election.

AFFIDAVIT AND ABSENTEE BALLOT

To receive an Affidavit: Stop in Town Hall, 402 Evergreen Rd, South Bethany, DE.
Call (302) 539-3653 to request an Affidavit be mailed to you. Go to southbethany.delaware.gov “Info Tab”, “Election Info” and download an Affidavit. After submitting a completed Affidavit to Town Hall, an Absentee Ballot will be handed/mailed to you. Deadline: Absentee ballots can be requested by any qualified voter unable to vote at the polling place on the date of election by filing an Affidavit with the Town no later than 12:00 pm on May 24, 2019. The Absentee Ballot must be filed with the Town no later than 3:00 p.m. on the day of the Election; i.e., MAY 25, 2019.
Mailed: If requesting an absentee ballot by mail, the affidavit must be received by at Town Hall prior to 12 p.m. on May 21, 2019. For affidavits received after 12:00 p.m. on May 21, 2019, the individual filing the affidavit will be responsible for picking up the absentee ballot at Town Hall in person.
